Can I Transfer Money From My HSA to My Spouse's HSA?

Transferring money from your HSA to your spouse's HSA is generally not allowed. HSAs are individual accounts, and funds are intended to be used for the account holder, their spouse, and dependents.

However, there are alternative ways to share funds with your spouse:

  • Reimburse your spouse for eligible medical expenses paid out of pocket
  • Pay for your spouse's medical expenses directly
  • If both of you are covered under family HDHP, you can use funds from your HSA to pay for your spouse's medical expenses.

While you can't directly transfer funds from your HSA to your spouse's HSA, there are effective ways to utilize your account for shared medical expenses, ensuring you maximize your savings.
