TRICARE Reserve Select does not offer a Health Savings Account (HSA) option to military service members. However, service members enrolled in TRICARE Reserve Select may still be eligible to open and contribute to an HSA through a qualified high-deductible health plan (HDHP) offered by other providers.
TRICARE Reserve Select is a cost-effective health insurance option for members of the National Guard and Reserve. While TRICARE Reserve Select itself does not include an HSA feature, service members can explore alternative HDHP options to take advantage of HSA benefits.
How HSAs work for medical expenses
Health Savings Accounts are valuable financial tools that allow individuals to set aside pre-tax money for medical expenses. Contributions to an HSA can be used to cover a wide range of qualified medical expenses, offering tax advantages and long-term savings benefits.
Using an HDHP to access HSA benefits
While TRICARE Reserve Select does not provide a Health Savings Account (HSA) option directly, eligible service members can still benefit from HSAs by enrolling in a qualified high-deductible health plan (HDHP) through other providers. This can be a smart financial decision to enhance your healthcare savings.
